About the UAR

The Algerian Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies, by abbreviation – UAR–  is a professional association created by ordinance 95-07 of January 25th, 1995, amended and supplemented by law 06-04 of February 20th, 2006.   

The –UAR–, whose head office is located in Algiers, is present throughout the national territory. This has been chaired since June 20th, 2020 by Mr. Youcef BENMICIA, President of CAAT.

The Algerian Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies brings together all insurance and reinsurance companies as well as branches of foreign companies practicing economic insurance and reinsurance; any legal status combined. In accordance with the legislation in force, all insurance and / or reinsurance companies as well as approved mutual societies must join the Union.

The main missions of the Algerian Union of Insurance and Reinsurance Companies consist of the representation and defense of the interests of the profession as well as the information and awareness of its members and the public on issues related to the activity of insurance, in particular, the promotion of the activities of the sector, the improvement of the quality of the services provided by the insurance and reinsurance companies and the respect of the rules of ethics in the exercise of the profession.

The Union is also one of the privileged interlocutors of the Ministry of Finance on all questions related to the profession.
